Film Development Board to digitize old films

Film Development Board is digitizing and restoring old Nepali films. The decision has come as a welcome relief when there was growing concern about old Nepali films being lost from viewable archives. The Board will digitize 12 films including ‘Ama’ in the first round. This decision has come after recommendations from a recently formed committee to help facilitate the restoration and archiving of old Nepali films.

‘We will continue with other films after the completion of the first phase’, said Board President Nikita Poudel. Movie lovers will get to watch films preserved in old formats in digital scope after the completion of current works. ‘Films shot in 16mm and 35mm will now be able to be rendered in 2K and 4K formats’, added Poudel.
