Tulsi Ghimire and Dayahang Rai in upcoming 'Appa'

Film ‘Aappa’ has been announced with actor Dayahang Rai playing the titular role. Veteran actor and director Tulsi Ghimire will also feature in the film which was announced in Kalebung, India, on Tuesday. Most of the cast and crew of the film, to be directed by Anmol Gurung, had gathered at the announcement ceremony. The opening shooting of the film was also done on the same occasion at the legendary Ghum Railway Station in Darjeeling. The film will tell the story of a father and a son.
Actor Dayahang Rai said he was attracted by the film’s story. ‘I was very much impressed after hearing the story of the film. It is a universal story. The film has the potential to create a new trend in Nepali film sector’, he added. Ghimire, who is sharing screen space with Rai for the first time, said it will be difficult for him to be upto the mark with the latter. ‘He has brought a new style to acting in Nepali cinema. I will have to work hard to be on the same frequency’, he said. Director Gurung said they are looking a Father’s Day, September 9, release for the film.
